bio
MoNique LeRoux is an American abstract artist of French Creole heritage from Texas whose work blends modern animation-inspired landscapes, abstract expressionism, and handcrafted crystal magic wands created from ethically foraged materials collected during her nature hikes.
She holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Management and is a certified VASE Art Juror for the State of Texas. Her first solo exhibition debuted in 2019 at The Chrysalis Art Gallery during her participation in the Escapist Mentorship and Artist Residency program.
In 2020, MoNique became the creator and director of The Meet Houston’s Artists Docuseries, a project that received recognition from multiple Houston media outlets, including FOX 26 Houston. In honor of her contributions to Houston’s arts community, Mayor Sylvester Turner officially proclaimed February 22, 2021, as “Meet Houston’s Artists Day” in the City of Houston.
MoNique has taught both private and public art classes and most recently instructed Professional Artist Development courses at the Manitou Art Center in Manitou Springs.
Her work and creative initiatives have been featured by FOX 26 Houston, OutSmart Magazine, Houston CityBook, VoyageHouston Magazine, Sawyer Yards, Shoutout HTX, and The Leader News.
